Hi there!
I was born in Cincinnati – home to the flying pig and Skyline Chili. My childhood included piles and piles of books, an imaginary friend named Jeff, and a love for creating stories. Interestingly, this mirrors my adult life, minus the imaginary friend. I wrote my first story when I was six years old. It was about a bear named Corduroy who needed to find his pocket. Creative, huh? It did get my first award, though – a gold star sticker from my mom.
Now, I write more original stories about awesome kids who just might save the world, sparkly socks and electric bagpipes, and witches and ghosts. To be honest, I’ve never actually seen a ghost but I do work with middle school students on a daily basis which can be just as scary.
When I’m not reading, writing or teaching, I’m declaring my love of chips and salsa, meatloaf (both the food and the singer), and excessive exclamation points to all. I currently live in Ohio with my husband and our stinky (but noble) English bulldog, Oliver.
Want to know more? Here are a few of my favorite things:
Food: Pizza – the more pepperoni the better! I also love anything spicy.
Movie: Goonies (Goonies never say die!) and The Sandlot (For-ev-ver!)
Book series: Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins
Book: Holes by Louis Sachar and Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick
Joke: Why did the cyclops have to close down his school? He only had one pupil! (Har, har – I should probably stick to writing)
